Find where it's actually cheaper
Compare the same game or app across countries and stores, with taxes, FX and card fees included, so you see whether you can actually buy it, and whether a cheap price will last or it's just a sale.
See how much you actually save
Every bar is the real landed cost (price + FX + card fee) versus your home price, localized to your country. Switch category below. (Software & Tools isn't here: its saving is a partner code, not a cheaper country.)
Real regional savings, localized to you
Real landed cost (price + FX + ~2% card fee) versus your home price. Live search covers any Steam, App Store or pricing-page link. Click a bar to compare it.
We're fighting price discrimination
The same game, app or subscription is priced differently depending on your country, your device, sometimes on what your data says about you. It's called price discrimination, it's mostly invisible, and shoppers in higher-income countries quietly pay the most. We can't change how sellers price, but we can show you the real, all-in number everywhere, and whether you can actually get the cheaper one. Daylight, not tricks.
What price discrimination is, with real examplesWhy a cheaper price isn't always a cheaper buy
Most "cheapest country" tools stop at the sticker price. AlternativePrice computes the real landed cost, tells you honestly whether you can buy it, and flags whether a low price is a lasting regional price or a sale that's about to end.
True landed cost
Local price, plus currency conversion (the ECB reference rate where it exists, a market rate otherwise), plus your card's roughly 2% foreign-transaction fee, plus tax treatment. One honest number in your currency, and we read the live discount, so you know if it's a temporary sale or the regular price.
Can you actually buy it?
Some regions prefer a card issued there and app stores prefer a local account, so we flag every option as buyable, account-needed, or local-card, and tell you the workaround.
The buyable route
For games, legit key-stores (GOG, Fanatical, Humble) sell to anyone with any card, often the real cheapest you can capture.
The honest answers
Do I need a VPN?
Sometimes, and we tell you exactly when. A VPN changes the prices a store shows you (think flights, hotels, some regional storefronts), but for most subscriptions and app stores it won't help: they price by your card's country, not your IP. We've got no problem with VPNs. Where one actually unlocks a cheaper price, we flag it on the result and point you to one worth using.
Will I actually be able to buy at the cheaper price?
That's the whole point of the buyability verdict. Buyable means any card, no foreign account (e.g. legit key-stores or your home region). Account needed means a free store account set to that country, but any card works. Local card means the cheap price usually wants a card issued in that country or a regional gift card, often not strictly checked, so it's an extra step rather than out of reach.
What does "landed cost" include?
The local price, converted at the ECB reference rate (a market rate for the few currencies the ECB doesn't publish), plus your card's roughly 2% foreign-transaction fee, plus the tax treatment. One honest number in your own currency, not a sticker price you'd have to do mental math on.
Is that cheap price a real deal or just a sale?
Not the same thing: a temporary sale reverts in a few days, a regional price doesn't. We read the live discount and flag when a price is on sale (and show the regular price), so you know whether the deal will still be there tomorrow, one more thing we check that you can't easily check yourself.
Is buying from another region allowed?
Key-stores like GOG, Humble and Fanatical sell globally to anyone, so those routes are straightforward. Regional store accounts (Steam, App Store) have their own terms about where you live and pay; we flag those as account-gated so you can decide. We won't pretend a gated route is friction-free.
How fresh are the prices?
Paste a Steam or App Store link and we scan ~18 countries live, cached for 30 minutes. The sample games and apps on this page are a stored snapshot for demonstration. Every figure shows its source.
What does it cost?
Prices, savings and verdicts are a free preview. Unlocking exactly where to buy (the store/region and link) spends one credit, with a 24-hour re-check window on that game or app. Credit bundles start at $1.99 (€2.29 in the euro area); card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers.
